Terms of use
Welcome to Peter. By downloading or using the app you agree to these terms, so please read them. If anything is unclear, reach out to us at [email protected].
What is Peter?
Peter is an iPhone app that turns your own lecture slides, notes and recordings into a study path, flashcards and an AI tutor that cites the page it took each answer from. Peter is owned and operated by Minseok Jung, South Korea.
You must be at least 13 years old to use Peter (14 in South Korea). If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must read these terms and agree to them on your behalf, and by letting you use Peter they do. You sign in with Apple or Google; keep that account secure, because you are responsible for what happens under your Peter account.
We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Peter on Apple devices you own or control, under these terms and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Apple is not responsible for Peter or its support. The Peter name, design and artwork belong to us.
Subscriptions and payment
Peter requires a subscription. Plans are offered monthly or yearly at the prices shown in the app, which may vary by country. Payment is charged to your Apple ID.
Free trial
The yearly plan starts with a one-week free trial. Peter sends you one reminder on your iPhone three days before it ends. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your subscription starts and you are charged.
Recurring payments
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends. If prices change, Apple will tell you beforehand as its rules require.
Cancellation
Manage or cancel in your iPhone's Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Deleting the app or your Peter account does not cancel a subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies; you can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
A subscription belongs to the Apple ID that bought it and is used by whichever Peter account is signed in on that Apple ID. If you sign in with a different Peter account, the subscription moves to that account. When you subscribe, Apple receives your Peter account identifier so the two can be matched.
Privacy and data security
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why. In short: your study material is used to make your paths, decks and answers and for nothing else; it is not sold, not used for advertising and not used to train AI models.
Your material
- You keep ownership of everything you add to Peter.
- You give us permission to store, process and send it to our service providers only as needed to run Peter for you — for example, to have the AI read it and write your study material.
- Only add material you have the right to use. Don't add material that is illegal, or that infringes someone else's rights.
Data security
Your library, including your original files and recordings, is backed up to private storage tied to your account whenever you are signed in. Data is encrypted in transit and only your account can open the backup. Recordings are transcribed on your iPhone; only the transcript goes to the AI. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.
Maintenance and availability
Peter's AI features have daily and monthly usage limits so the service stays fast and affordable for everyone. Limits may change. We may update, change or pause parts of Peter for maintenance or improvement, and we cannot promise it will always be available or error-free.
Peter backs up your library, but it is a study tool, not a storage service. Keep your own copies of anything you can't afford to lose.
Website terms of use
- The content on this website belongs to us. You may read it and share links to it, but not copy it for commercial use.
- Don't scrape the website, interfere with it, or try to access parts of it that aren't meant for you.
- The website uses only the cookies strictly necessary for it to work.
Recording lectures
Peter can record and transcribe lectures and conversations. You are responsible for recording lawfully: follow your school or university's rules on recording, get consent from the people being recorded where the law where you are requires it, and don't record private or sensitive conversations. Recordings are for your own study; don't share them in ways that break your institution's rules or someone's rights.
Copyright and takedown requests
Only add material you have the right to use. Lecture slides, readings and textbooks are usually copyrighted; using them for your own private study is normally allowed, but you may not use Peter to share or redistribute them.
If you believe material in Peter infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with: a description of the copyrighted work; where in Peter it appears (the account or file concerned, as far as you know); your contact details; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them; and your physical or electronic signature. We will remove or disable access to material that infringes, and we may close the accounts of repeat infringers.
Honor code
Peter is for learning your material, not for getting around the rules of your course. Don't use it to cheat on exams or assessments, don't add exam papers or answers you aren't allowed to have, and follow your school or university's rules on using AI. We may close the accounts of people who use Peter to cheat.
Content disclaimers
Paths, questions, flashcards and answers are written by AI from your material. They can be incomplete or wrong. Check anything important against your source, and don't rely on Peter for medical, legal, financial or other professional advice. Peter is a study aid, not a substitute for your course, your teachers or official course materials.
Liability and disclaimer of warranties
Peter is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties about it and are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for more than the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.
We are not responsible for:
- Mistakes in AI-generated content, or decisions you make based on it.
- Material you add that you did not have the right to use.
- Outages, data loss or delays caused by Apple, our providers, your device or your connection.
Don't use Peter to break the law, harm others, attempt to access other people's data, interfere with the service, resell access, or reverse-engineer it except where the law allows. Don't add other people's sensitive personal information (health or financial details, government ID numbers and the like) unless you have the right to. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.
Your responsibility for what you add
You are responsible for the material you add to Peter and for how you use it. If your material or your use of Peter breaks these terms or the law and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover the reasonable costs that claim causes us, to the extent the law allows.
Third-party links
Peter and this website may link to other sites and services, including Apple's and Google's. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content or how they handle your data.
Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve Peter without owing you anything for them.
General
These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Peter. If any part of them turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term straight away, we haven't given up the right to. You may not transfer these terms to someone else; we may transfer them to a company that takes over Peter. We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as outages at our providers, natural disasters or network failures. We may send you notices by email or in the app.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will tell you in the app, and continuing to use Peter afterwards means you agree to the new terms. These terms are governed by the laws of South Korea, without affecting mandatory consumer protections where you live. You can stop using Peter and delete your account at any time.
